Alan Devine- Public Speaking
Thursday 5th of October Alan Devine came into our class to talk to us about public speaking. When he first came in he gave us 2 different greetings saying the exact same words but he was excited in one and he wasn't bothered at all in the other. this shows us how much of a difference a bit of energy can make. he then went on to teach us how to speak in public. he started out with how we should walk out onto the stage. We should all have a very confident walk to show people we know what we are talking about. Next he told us that we should all stand up tall. Alot of people tend to cross their legs out of nervousness but this is something that we should not do as it send a message to the audience saying that we are weak. Next we give the audience a smile this relaxes the audience and it shows them we are a kind happy person. we then started to do exercises to calm our nerves and help us to speak in public. We each had to stand up in front of the class and make eye contact with each person in the room for 3 seconds while following the moves that someone is giving you at the back of the classroom. our last activity we each got a card with a word on it. We then had to stand infant of the class and describe the word without actually saying the word. For next Friday we must all have a speech prepared and we must preform it infant of the entire class. i really enjoyed this workshop and it helped me a lot with my public speaking.
